Hi, I’m Lisa…a plant-based chef

Hi, I’m Lisa…a plant-based chef, a recipe developer and a plant-based educator, or, as I like to call myself, a Professional Vegucator. Nothing makes me happier than sharing the joys of plant-based foods with others. I’ve been creating, sharing and selling my chocolates at local fairs and festivals since 2014 and now I’m ready to share my unique vegan chocolates with a broader audience.

I have also been blessed to have released over 100lbs, co-developed and taught plant-based diet programs for Kaiser Permanente, won Vegan Iron Chef in 2013 and Best of Raw in 2010. I earned my MS in healthcare in 2005 and love being able to train providers, work with differently-abled people and bring activity-based therapies and health promoting foods to marginalized populations and persons in institutionalized care.

My goal is to vegucate the world and every chocolate is a testament to compassion for animals and people. I am a continual work in progress. I view life as a journey vs a destination. Thank you for supporting me in my efforts. I hope my bespoke and handcrafted products can make your tastebuds sing and put a smile on your face, Hugs!

Why "Big Booty Chocolates?"

Well, I’ve always had a big butt and hips which was once a source of self-loathing and embarrassment for many years. No matter what I tried I could not get the weight off of my hips and butt. My doctors kept telling me to lose more weight but it would come off my top half but not so much on my lower half. I’d jokingly say, “I have an hourglass figure with an extra 30 minutes on my ass” but really felt like something was wrong with me….like I was defective.

Then, I saw a documentary about a condition called lipedema (a connective tissue disorder where the fat has trouble interfacing with the tissue which impacts the circulatory and lymphatic systems) and the women in the documentary were like me with big hips and butts and heavy legs. I saw a lymphatic cardiovascular specialist at Stanford in September 2021 who confirmed that I had Stage 3 lipedema and there was no cure. I currently do about 2 hours of exercises and lymphatic treatments daily to help manage the pain and swelling. I was feeling really sad about being diagnosed with this condition but learned about 11% of all women have it and causation is genetic as well as physical trauma and hormonal based (I have all 3) . I was kvetching to a friend who said, “Girl, stop being sad and just embrace that big booty!” I then had an aha moment…….

I had already created my unique truffles and just decided to rebrand them as “Big Booty Chocolates”. I wanted to make this business about body positivity and inclusion. Not all vegans are skinny. We come in all shapes and sizes. I AM the big booty of “Big Booty Chocolates.” I often have women asking me if my chocolates will make their booty bigger and I say embrace whatever booty you have and enjoy some compassionate delicious vegan artisan chocolate! NOTE: A portion of my proceeds goes to support The Lipedema Foundation and to events that help promote body positivity, inclusion and self-compassion. Hugs!
